Episode 14: Aaron Landry @ Car2Go
Before I gave up my car, I calculated it was costing about $5,000 to run and maintain a vehicle in Hawaii. The one thing that pushed me over the edge was learning that Hawaii was leaning towards adopting many alternative transportation methods, including Uber, the rail, BikeShare, and finally car sharing.
Car2Go is a car sharing service which allows users to obtain a membership to the service and then use a Car2Go vehicle when available using their membership card. The rental period is measured in minutes and you can leave the car when you're done anywhere within the service range. My favorite part is you're not responsible for the general maintenance of the vehicle including oil changes, routine maintenance, and car washes.
Listen to our podcast where we talk to Aaron Landry, the general manager of Car2Go in Hawaii to learn how the membership works and the process to renting a Car2Go.
